welcome to the IA library

The Impact Assessment Library (IAL) has been created to provide easy access into the analysis that Government has undertaken when introducing new regulations.

Government is required to carry out assessments of the likely costs, benefits and impacts of any legislation it implements that affects businesses, public sector front-line staff or those working for charities or voluntary organisations. This is carried out using Impact Assessments (IAs).

As well as viewing summaries of the final Impact Assessments published from 1st April 2008, you can also access the full Impact Assessment. This enables full access to the evidence base used to justify the need to regulate, including details of the options that were considered and discarded as well as assessment of the impacts to race, equality, disability, the environment etc.

To access the guidance, toolkit and training that underpins the Impact Assessment process, please go to our Useful Links pages
